Aleksi Campagne is an indie-folk fiddle-singer and songwriter from Montreal. Offering a contemporary take on the time-honoured fiddle-singing tradition, Aleksi floors audiences by singing while bowing his violin and leading his four-piece band. His original music blends folk songwriting with an edgy, multi-layered sound—led first and foremost by his unique combination of voice, violin and looping-effect pedals.

Aleksi’s music is indebted to growing up on tour with his mom: Canadian folk icon Connie Kaldor. His childhood experiences both backstage and onstage have fostered a unique appreciation for the folk tradition. In his songwriting, the young musician aims to pay homage to the heartfelt storytelling and activism he grew up listening to.

He combines his folk roots with his virtuosic violin-playing and equally powerful voice. Not only did Aleksi study jazz violin in Paris under Jazz legend, Didier Lockwood, but Aleksi is also the only student to ever be accepted into both the jazz violin and the jazz voice performance programs at McGill University.

Most recently, Aleksi was recognized with both a Canada Council Grant and a Factor Grant to complete his debut full-length album: For the Giving. Please consider join his mailing list for updates!

For the past three years, Aleksi has toured across the country with a four-piece band made up of some of the finest young musicians Montreal has to offer: Stephane Krims (Bass), Aaron Dolman (drums) and Zach Bachand (guitar). Together, they have played festivals and venues across Canada!

Aleksi released his debut EP in Montreal on April 5th 2018, and you can read more on that and his background in The Montreal Gazette or on Forget the Box.
